Priority Projects in Agriculture and Rural Development
During 2007 - 2013 Romania will benefit, besides Structural and Cohesion Funds, from Funds for Agriculture (subventions and direct payments for farmers), for rural development and fisheries. The total allocated in this respect will be of around 8 billion Euros.
The Romanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that three priority measures will receive financing starting with the end of 2007:
- Modernization of agricultural exploitations (farms)
- Increase of added value for agricultural and forest products
- Renovation of and development of villages
For the first two measures, the main beneficiaries of the funds will be legal persons - enterprises included - as well as natural authorized persons, family associations, cooperatives and groups of agricultural producers.
For the measure related to the renovation and development of the villages, the main beneficiaries shall be local public authorities from rural areas, by themselves or in associations/ partnerships. Projects submitted by associations of local authorities will have higher chances of being financed, and the nonrefundable amounts will also be higher.
The measure related to the renovation and modernization of villages will finance investments of utmost interest and need for Romanian village: constructions and modernization of rural roads, water and sewerage networks, natural gas supply network, rehabilitations of cultural institutions, libraries, etc.
